question about the radio shack electronics lab? i saw one at my local radio shack and want one real bad but i have a few questions before i get it due to that the radioshack website doesnt sell it anymore and its been out for a long time 1) if they dont sell the product on the website anymore, does that mean they will sell the product at the local store for a lower price? 2) the product has been out for a long time and its still pretty high. will they lower the price any? 3) is there any way to get the product descounted or anything so it doesnt cost me alot? i think it costs about 60 and i would like to bring that down. i know this may not be the best electronics lab to get but its perfect just to mess around with for me. so please help me out. thanks
Can Electronics be learnt through Simulation software widely available on internet? I am working full-time in an Electronics related field and at the same time studying for M.Sc. in Electronics through Distance Learning. Being a Distance Learner I have a very few practical classes on the basis of which to develop understanding about Electronics. Can virtual training softwares like PSpice, SwitcherCAD, Tina Pro 6, etc. fill up the void? Also suggest some more software packages for turning my PC into an Electronics Lab?
What DC Power Supply can I used for an at home electronics lab? I'm trying to create my own little electronics lab, for which I'll need a DC power supply. I don't really know which one to get, I looked and possibly at least 0 -25 V and 1 amp. I'm just wondering if anyone has more knowledge than me and can recommend me something useful. For example I'm looking at this one: http://www.used-line.com/c6720341s88-HP_Agilent_6220B.htm and also the $125 dollar one here http://www.tech-systems.net/?source=usedline which is bk precision brand. Of course I'm starting so the cost shouldn't be too much. Other factors, which I believe are important are current limiting capability for example, so that its not an oscillating mess. I guess a lot of it would be a recommendation, what about these: 1) http://webtronics.stores.yahoo.net/tripoutpowsu2.html <-- no plugs, but well... $46!!! 2) http://www.frys.com/product/4592117;jsessionid=BjAoZPvYDm1aA4dYe8iI9w**.node1?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG $119 3) http://www.used-line.com/c5976012s2089-Agilent_HP_6236A.htm $95 <-- think I'll get this one, HP/Agilent is seems more like the one used in univeristy labs..
what is a great electronics lab to get? i have looked around the internet at some electronics labs that im interested in getting. i saw one at radioshack that got me started thinking about it and ive now stumbled upon 4 from ramseyelectronics that go from 130,200,300, to 500. the 300 contains the 130 and the 500 contains the 130 and 300. these are the only ones i have found so far. idk of any others as of yet. my questions are: 1.are there others out there that i dont know about 2. with or without others besides the ones ive listed, what are the pros and cons of each one listed above and which one is the best to get and then the second best and so forth 3. the 200 one on ramsey is different than the others. why? 4. are they any good? 5. what do you know about the radioshack one? i heard it wasnt that great thanks
Need help on an electronics lab project.? we need to build a circuit that will drive this motor that we have. we have a simple lab kit containing resistors, capacitors, logic gates, op amps, 555 timers, LED's, transistors, MOSFET's, BJT's, potentiometers. pretty much the basic stuff for the lab using only a dc power source, our lab kits and the provided motor we need to make a fan that has 2 speeds and off. we need to have LED's (red, yellow and green) indicate when the motor is off, low and high. we also need to transmit the signal through an infrared LED to a phototransistor, then to the fan, there can be a step between the PT and the fan. the LED's have to be on the IR LED side and wee need to use, i would believe, the potentiometer to control the speed and use it to turn it on and off. we have tried many different ways and are looking for any suggestions and ideas that will help us. thank you. the motor is driven by any dc voltage and as the voltage goes up so did the speed of the fan, not sure about current
whats the best way to learn electronics? i have asked about those electronics labs on the net that have projects that help teach about electronics but i havent gotten alot of str8 answers on if they would be perfect or not. mostly ive gotten "give them a try" or "good starting point" but nothing saying they teach really well. so i was wondering what is a great starting point that every person that wants to learn electronics (parts, boards, circuits, etc)? i want a solid foundation so i can do some electronic projects off some websites. any help would be great. thanks
has america done anything significant in the evolution of electronics within the last three decades? think about this; at one time, america was the world leader in electronics development. Bell Labs introduced the world's first transistor back in 1948, and then Texas Instruments invented the integrated circuit chip, which enables us to have things like computers today. but since then, what have we done in this field that has been significant? have we handed all of our creativity over to the japanese and chinese? maybe i haven't been keeping abreast of modern developments....if so, can you enlighten me?
Why must we warm up a spectrophotometer before using in the lab? It's a question I need to answer in my lab report. Why do we need to plug in the spectrophotometer and wait for at least 30 minutes before taking the absorbance levels of solutions? I know it has something to do with warming up the lamp and stabilizing the electronics... but I still don't quite get it. Thank you!
Are there any gases that can do damage to electronics? By electronics i mean like CDs, DVDs, DVD players, PS3 and just any electronics basically. I guess the purpose of this question is that i am bored but also curious if it can happen just in case something weird happens i guess. I am sure gases at like a chemistry lab could effect it but not just stuff around the house. Well if it kills u then i guess it could destroy anything! To Loadnabox: Well if it kills u then i guess it could destroy anything!
do you know any good virtual electronics program? a few years ago i had in a laptop a program that i downloaded for free that was a virtual electronics lab ike the ones thar sels in radio shack for hobby i remember it had lots of components and a simulator to see if the circuit would work or not , does anybody knows anithing like this i really need to get another like that thanks
how do online college classes do lab work? i was strongly considering online colleges, but i'm confused at how they do their lab hours. from what i understand, regular classes are part book work and part hands-on lab work. (like if you were studying electronics) how do they do that for online courses? or do they even do it at all?
I need a tool bag to carry a LOT of stuff in, any suggestions? I need to have basic tools (screwdrivers, pliers, etc..) along with a lot of electronics stuff like wire, multimeter, electrical tape, assortment of components in cases, a small soldering station, various cables and power cords... I need a bag to fit A LOT of stuff in - basically I need to make my home electronics lab portable. Any suggestions on a nice bag to carry all this stuff (and more) in?
some electronics questions involving opamps and music:? OK, the following questions are from my electronics lab. I know most of these questions can't be answered out of context, but if they can, can you help me out? 8. Change the opamp supplies to Vsupply_pos=10V, Vsupply_neg=0V. Use the CD player or your own portable music player headphone output to drive the circuit with a music signal. What happened? Why? 11. Play tracks #3- #7 (sinusoids at 2Hz, 20Hz, 200Hz, 2KHz, and 20KHz) while measuring the voltage on both sides of C407 using two channels of the oscilloscope. Is this capacitor really a short circuit at all music frequencies? 13. Typical headphones have a resistance of about 50 ohms. Given this, what purpose is served by the opamp? 14. Why is C407(capacitor) needed in this circuit? Hint: recall the results of step 8.
How to use the multisim to build this circuit? How to use the software multisim to build this circuit? http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/test/007/index.html how to download the component of ICL7107 and MAN6710 for the software multisim? Can someone build that circuit to me and send to my email: lwy_1874@yahoo.com or tell me where can download the component of ICL7107 and MAN6710 for the software multisim, thank!
Is there any documentation regarding the small amounts of voltage produced by LEDs that are exposed to light? I was at work in an electronics lab and I was measuring the resistance across a voltmeter. I noticed that the resistance reading would vary by as much as 10 kilo-Ohms when I moved my hand over it. I then realized that there was an LED on the same circuit and it was when I covered the LED that the readings fluctuated. I switched to the voltmeter and measured 1.2 miliVolts at regular room brightness. I shined a very bright light on the LED and recieved a reading of 72 miliVolts. I was just wondering if there reports of similar situations and if some more comprehensive data was available that would give figures on the voltage outputs of different types of LEDs.
what software can use for simulation and test the citcuit of digital voltmeter? what software have including the many component ICs chip? because the ICL7107 for circuit digital voltmeter cannot find out in many software, so difficult to simulate out the circuit of digital voltmeter same kind of in this website: http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/test/014/index.html can anyone tell me the name of software? thank
Where can i find cool sims objects for a mad scientist lab? i had cloning tubes with humans in them that where hacked book cases but lost them when my hard drive crashed i would like to find more science fiction type stuff for my mad scientist's lab maby some alien stuff or fancy space age electronics like in the movies and some hacked items too that do crazy stuff
Is it dangerous to put a labtop on your lap? Whenever I put my lab-top on my lap my privates start to feel a very uncomfortable burning/tingling feeling. Then I try sitting differently and right around my knees I gradually begin to feel the pain around my knees. Why am I feeling this whenever I put it on my lap? The only explanation I can come up with is that all electronics have radiation and my lab-top must be giving off a lot or something.
What's with the small and large caps at input/output of regulator? Look at this website. http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/power/015/index.html Now I'm wondering why have the large and small caps at the input and output of the regulator. I understand that the caps help stabilize the voltage at the regulator, to keep it from oscillating, but why have a relative large and a relatively low capacitance? Since capacitors in parallel add, the outputs of the regulators essentially have 101uF of capacitance. Why not just put a 200uF cap there and call it a day? Same with the input to the regulator. There's a 2200uF in parallel with a 1uF, oooooo, 2201uF!! Why not just put a 3000uF there if you want more than 2200uF?
Would it be worth it to take the FE exam (and subsequently go for PE) in my case? I have a BS degree in electrical engineering, and I am working on my MS degree in EE now. I am doing a large chunk of my coursework and research in the power area. I plan to head out into industry after completing my master's (maybe work for a power plant, research lab or power electronics manufacturer, not sure as of yet). Would it be worth it to pursue a PE license in my case? I have heard that it sometimes isn't that helpful in advancing your career options depending on your situation. Thanks for your input!
how to build a circuit for ac input voltmeter? how to build a circuit for ac input voltmeter? Is Digital Voltmeter for this website: www.electronics-lab.com/projects/test/014 How to measured V(rms), V(peak) and V(peak to peak) from the circuit? Thanks
What is the ideal temperature for hair straightners? Again its to do with my Electronics courcework. Seeming as we cant create 180oC in the lab i need a more practical (if unrealistic) temp. 40oC or so will do. I need this for my 'research' so if anyone could just put 40oC as an answer i'd b grateful. 40oC!
Will I be able to get into a decent college with the following information? I'm a junior in highschool currently, with around a B average (3.4 GPA..give or take a few decimal points) Recently obtained a 1670 on the new SAT (though I'm taking it again in May and am aiming for at least an 1800) and the following schedule for next year: Pre-Calculus Lab Physics Italian 4 (Honors) Electronics 4 (Tech) Art I (Was required to take an art to graduate) Acad. English 4 I don't have alot of extracurricular activities, but I was a member of two clubs and had a steady job that I was employed at for over 2 years. I plan on maybe doing a sport next year and maybe joining another club.
Playroom for kids or let them play around the house? Do you think "locking" up a 12 month old in a playroom with toys is ok or should I let him run around my house. He seem to be getting into everything. I find myself closing bathroom doors, locking up kitchen cabinets and hiding things like my lab top or other electronics. Does anyone have any advice on this?
Water level controller circuit,Can i connect Relay? http://www.electronics-lab.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/water-sensor-circuit.GIF Please see the circuit diagram,in that there is a buzzer, instead of buzzer can i connect a relay and so that motor to fill the water tank will start automatically, rite, please help me

electronics book suggests to get a simulator or a breadboard...what should i do? i am stuyding electronics as a hobby and have had experience in physics lab dealing with circuits and such, and now im getting more into it. the book i mentions that i need to either get a circuit simulator program or a breadboard and some parts to be able to fully get the concepts in the book. i know i probably dont need either but it wouldnt hurt to see. so my question is does anybody know where i can find a good simulator or a sort of breadboard kits iwth all the parts i need? im working on a budget here bc im about to purchase a $40 multimeter soon and i dont want to spend a ton of money if i dont have to. thanks
Will a regular surge protector protect an electric dog fence from lightning? We are purchasing the Innotek SD-2100 electric dog fence to contain our 30 lb. lab/husky mix. (We live on a busy road and she likes to zig-zag across the street!) I know that they have special lightning protection surge protectors made specifically for the dog fence, but I'm wondering if a regular electronics surge protector would do the same thing. Thanks :) "electric" fence meaning invisible dog fence (buried underground)
Fixing the trams on Noveria in Mass Effect? I'm supposed to fix the plasma purge but it says I can't because my electronics skill level is too low. I've already leveled up and have killed everything in the lab. What do I do?
Bringing electronics to school.? My school allows us to bring electronics, but we have to turn it in to a principal or teacher. Why are they so strong on that rule. The chances of an iPod getting stolen from a teacher or principal are much higher than if you have it in your pocket (or even a belt clip) at all times. Plus they're more likely to get damaged. It's pretty easy to notice a student using an electronic in class! (In my school there's only 6 kids in my class) Plus do you think that my parents could get the school to let me use my laptop in the computer lab? I don't like or feel safe using their computers. By safe I mean they're NEVER cleaned, so if a student sneezes on the keyboard, someone els could get sick. Also The screens hurt my eyes. (flickering) And the teacher will be in constant monitor of us. The only way I could use a computer from home at school is to donate one to them. I don't have that kind of money to waste for the students to abuse and get germs on! And above all I'm more familier with Macs than their Windows computers, and it's pretty easy to notice someone trying to steal my laptop. It's a 15 inch silver laptop easy to notice!

Why was Baxter’s Ukrainian lab in fact producing a bioweapon disguised as a vaccine? Professor Moshe had called into a live radio show by Dr. A. True Ott, (explanation of Joseph Moshe’s call at 06:00) broadcast on Republic Broadcasting claiming to be a microbiologist who wanted to supply evidence to a States Attorney regarding tainted H1N1 Swine flu vaccines being produced by Baxter BioPharma Solutions. He said that Baxter’s Ukrainian lab was in fact producing a bioweapon disguised as a vaccine. He claimed that the vaccine contained an adjuvant (additive) designed to weaken the immune system, and replicated RNA from the virus responsible for the 1918 pandemic Spanish flu, causing global sickness and mass death. Sources tell us that Bar-Joseph Moshe made no threat against the President or the White House. He did not mention any bomb or attack. He then proceeded to inform the White House he intended to go public with this information. When he noticed men in suits in front of his house and feared that the FBI was about to detain him, he packed some belongings into his car and, him being a dual Israeli citizen, tried to reach the Israeli consulate located in close proximity to the federal building where the standoff took place. The FBI and the bomb squad prevented him from reaching it. Who is this man? His profile on biomedexperts.com says he is a plant disease expert with many publications on his name involving the genetic manipulation of virii. Photographic evidence that Moshe is who he says he is can be found here. Joseph Moshe was soon after his arrest sent or let go to Israel. Nothing has been heard from him since. The Secret Service was not the agency involved in the surveillance of Moshe at his home in California. This was done by the FBI, who had orders to detain or arrest him. Mounted on top of a large black vehicle used in his arrest was a microwave weapon that possibly damaged the electronics in Moshe’s car as well as any communication devices he had which might have been used to contact the media or others who could help him. Moshe did not suffer the same effects of the gas and pepper spray that others would have because he had built up an immunity to such weapons as a by-product of his Mossad training. Moshe was not handcuffed because he was not placed under arrest. Does this sound like an insane conspiracy theory? Sure it does. Due to the scarcity and anonimity of the sources we would dismiss it as exactly that, if it weren’t for some uncomfortable facts: Baxter Pharmaceutical has been caught, red-handed, in spreading a live, genetically engineered H5N1 Bird flu vaccine as a lethal biological weapon all over the world, destined to be used for human vaccinations. This happened just a few months ago. And only luck prevented a global catastrophe of epic proportions. Baxter International Inc. had mixed live, genetically engineered avian flue viruses in vaccine material shipped to 18 countries. Only by sheer luck, a Czech laboratory decided to test the vaccine on a dozen ferrets, which all died in days. The World Health Organization was notified and catastrophe was averted. This was clearly a deliberate act on Baxter’s part, because they adhere to BS3, bio-safety level three. Baxter admitted a “mistake”. Such monumental screwups are totally impossible at that level. Many safety systems would have needed to be sabotaged, many key personell would have needed to be bribed. It simply can’t be done without direction from the inside. They did not send out the wrong vial – they produced dozens of gallons of biological-weapon agent (genetically engineered live H5N1 / Bird flu virus), then sent it out as a “vaccine”. Baxter knew full well that their vaccine was lethal, because the year before they had tested it on a few hundred homeless Polish people – dozens died as a result

Air Force Officer with B.S. Electronics Engineering Technology Degree? I am prior enlisted (6yrs) and will be graduating with an electronics engineering technology degree (B.S.E.E.T) with a current GPA of 3.5. Do I even have a chance at becoming an officer in the AF w/o a EE and having electronics engineering related duties? Let's say the answer is yes...is it the same crap I went through when I enlisted...i.e. jobs separated into categories and the AF basically gives you a list of open jobs; or, do they actually have a list of jobs for people with certain degrees? I do not want to be a commanders secretary scheduling CC calls at the base theatre. I want to be a hands-on engineer...work in a lab...not so much project/people management...and from my experience in the military, that's the way an officer's life seemed - leadership and management. Thanks in advance.

MBA vs MS-I'm just going to be beginning my third year in electronics engineering from mumbai univ.? MBA vs MS-I'm just going to be beginning my third year in electronics engineering from mumbai univ.? I'm just going to be beginning my third year in electronics engineering from mumbai univ.i have been told that whatever it is that i want to do, be it an MS or an MBA the time to start preparing for it is now.but the problem is that i am not yet completely sure of what i want to do.i don't want to get into something too technical.i am not too fixated on the west,or working there.i want to basically do something that will if not assure,at least give me a fighting chance for steady vertical mobility and growth,in my place of work.i don't want to be stuck in some lab with r&d.I'd rather have a plush office(LOL).also i have heard that one can do a kind of technical management degree after one's MS.is this true? also what are the courses one can apply for in MS considering i should be an electronics engg by the time i'm applying for an MS? this i ask because the route to an MBA ( i plan to pursue it in india itself) seems quite straight forward-CAT.can you please help me?
electronics software.....? i need a electronics software that i can download free....like those EKI coarse ware stuff....i need to do my labs but i cant without this software....any body wanna help me.. thnx
How to calibrate a Fluke DMM? I have owned a Fluke handheld DMM for several years now, and have never had it calibrated. Is this something I can do myself? What kind of equipment/standards are required? Or do I need to send the meter to some lab to get calibrated? I just use this for hobby electronics, so it isn't too important that the DMM be super accurate. I was just wondering what was involved with calibrating one of these.
Electrical or Mechanical Engineering for hands on people? I don't really want to be stuck in an office 8 hours a day and would prefer a mixture of computer/office time and on site/lab work. I have an interest in the electronics we work with today, but I'm also interested in vehicles like planes and automobiles. Additionally, I even have an interest in alternative energy. Which of these two engineering disciplines would better suit me?
I need to create a charging station? I'm getting to many electronics beside my bed. first is my cell phone it has to charge. then my house phone if I have it with me. then my lab top and I going to get mp3/xm radio player, DS, PSP, and a couple other things. I love the tec but I can't charge it all at once. so I need a cheap and easy out of the way solution. to not only charge all of this but keep up with the wires. can you help.
how can i build a rectifier? i have a small ac generator, a ge diode and 2 si diodes, how can i build a low current rectifier with them? i also have 2 transformers with the center connection, i've heard they come in handy with rectifiers. All the parts i have are in that "Electronic lab 200 in one" electronics kits. thanx in advance
Anyone can correct this circuit for me? http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/test/007/index.html For the input for pin 30 and 31 of the IC, the voltage divider got some ploblem. As i know, the current that flow into pin 30 & 31 should be stable, but this curcuit show that unstable current flow into pin 30 & 31, i think the resistors are wrong. why the pin 30 & 31 are short circuit? if pin 30 short to pin 31, how to measured the input?
Anyone can explain this website circuit to me? http://www.electronics-lab.com/projects/test/007/index.html On positive of input, what use for the chooice of different path of resistor? On negative of input, what use for the adjustable resistor ? Can explain whole circuit to me?
