Could it be possible that the police could use a new weapon against car crime?
for example a police officer could use a stun gun or send out a beam to knock out the electronic devices inside of any type of motor vehicle and to bring it to a stand still, it would also stop these high speed chases and death on our roads every year. This device could be designed in such a way that the criminal would have difficulty getting access too by a series of codes and if taken there would be a chemical inside that would melt the software inside. Could something like what I have described be invented?

- No..
- They already have that...it's just way too expensive for most departments to afford
- well they are working on some sort of device like that, where it sends sonic waves or something from the police car to the other car, and makes the whole car vibrate a lot. not exactly a weapon, kind of a poke, saying hey buddy pull your arse over.
- Or we could punish the perpetrator properly instead of giving them 18 months. I say use a toting system like the americans.i.e. Theft, driving dangerously, risking the lives of others, attempted manslaughter. That should get about 20 years!
- I've seen similar devices tested by LAPD, but I don't believe they are in use. It was a small electronic device attached to the front of the squad. It was on wheels, so when the squad came up behind the fleeing car, they could launch it. It would roll under the fleeing car, and the officer would activate it. It sent out a very strong electronic pulse which disabled the electronics on the car, shutting it down. - i suppose it might be possible but if we are going to that extent, why not use a black-hawk, with its gatling gun to take out not only the car but the chav scum at the same time. it would save on court costs
- This idea has been undergoing testing for quite some time. It is based on a laser beam that will knock the engine off and make the car stop in a controlled manner. Police helicopters will also be fitted with it. Once in production it will save the police thousands of £'s every year in time and money. Brill idea, wish I had invented it.
