Electronic Components for home projects?

My daughter has asked me to help her build a couple of basic electronic experiments. I need to purchase individual components (not in lots of 1000). Please recommend the best electronic component sales companies on the internet. Ramjet09, thanks for the suggestion, but I prefer to stay with companies in the US.
