designing a numerical electronic lock for my room?

i like to setup a electronic lock which operates using numerical system and locks using magnetic type for my room and my cupboard. how can i design it. what are the parts needed for it.

1. Why would you build such a complicated and intricate device when you can buy one at reasonable price? The fact that you have no idea what it takes to build one probably means that you're not going to be very successful at building one from scratch.
